Workshop Description

Prepare yourself for the unexpected with our Comprehensive Disaster Management Workshop. This workshop is designed to give participants a thorough understanding of different types of disasters, hospital disaster planning, triage methodologies, and managing mass gatherings during crises. The training encompasses a variety of learning methods, including instructional videos, tabletop exercises, and hands-on mock drills, ensuring a well-rounded and immersive experience for participants.

Learning Objectives

  1. How to Prepare to Manage Disasters - Understand the concept of disaster preparedness and its importance in minimizing the impact of emergencies. Identify critical elements of personal and institutional readiness for effective disaster response. Learn to develop and implement individual and organizational disaster preparedness plans.

  2. Steps in Hospital Disaster Preparedness - Explore the fundamental steps in developing a comprehensive hospital disaster plan. Understand the risk assessment process and its role in tailoring the disaster plan to specific institutional needs. Identify strategies for resource allocation, including staffing, medical supplies, and equipment, to ensure optimal patient care during disasters. Learn about communication protocols within the hospital and with external agencies to facilitate coordinated response efforts.

  3. Knowing Disaster Field Triage and Safe Transport - Gain a comprehensive understanding of disaster field triage methodologies and their application in mass casualty incidents. Learn to rapidly assess and categorize patients based on the severity of their injuries. Understand the principles of prioritization and allocation of resources for efficient patient management. Explore safe transport strategies, including appropriate equipment and coordination with transportation agencies.
